Curriculum Vitae

Bryan Saner is a performance artist and sculptor concentrating on the creation of performances, activist art events and appropriately designed objects. Bryan has made long term commitments to collaborate closely with artists and activists in creating alternative artistic, educational and economic communities.

Since 1995 he has been working as a performing artist with the Goat Island Performance Group. Productions with Goat Island include 6 performances and 3 films. He is an instructor in the Goat Island Summer School at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and teaches in Goat Island’s annual European Winter and Summer Schools.

He teaches and advises in the Interdisciplinary arts graduate program at Columbia College, Chicago. He was a cofounder and instructor (art and performance) in the experimental cooperative Sunflower Community School, an alternative neighborhood elementary school in Chicago.

He designs and builds sculptural furniture in his small business and shop in Chicago.  As part of the business, Bryan has designed, conducted and self funded a woodworking apprenticeship program for young artists.

He is currently collaborating with his son Jake on an oral history film about activism in Chicago.
