artist, Crash!Boom!Bau! Festival
Originally trained in performance, Lucy Cash is now an artist working across film and performance. Her work playfully considers an expanded notion of choreography, often including very different forms of movement (from abstract dance to public and private gestures). She is interested in the traces of our experiences and cultures that are expressed through posture and gesture as well as more formalised movement. She has recently begun thinking about choreography in terms of its cultural, technical and procedural possibilities alongside its role as an aesthetic category. Her film and video work has been exhibited at international festivals and gallery spaces and includes three film collaborations with Goat Island performance group.
She has twice been a Visiting Artist at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (for semesters in 2003 / 2005). She is an associate artist with Artsadmin (www.artsadmin.co.uk) and also an associate member of Goat Island. For 2009-2010 she has a Screen Dance fellowship from South East Dance.
