Olaf Helbing, born in 1975, is performance artist, musician, and film maker. He lives in Weimar. He has studied at the HGB Leipzig, at Bauhaus-University Weimar, and at UPF Barcelona. In 1999 he was camera assistant of Jean Louis Comolli. Since 2000 he is member of the artist initiative "Theaterhaus Weimar", involved f.i. in projects for "Festival Theater der Welt 2002", festival "Politik im Freien Theater" 2005, and for theatre institutions in Berlin (Theater Hebbel Am Ufer), Zurich (Theaterhaus Gessnerallee), Hamburg (Kampnagel Fabrik), Dusseldorf (Forum Freies Theater), Riga (New Theater Riga), Krakau (Teatr Laznia Nowa). 2003 Artistic contribution to "Deine Bank braucht Dich!" (Freie Kammerspiele Magdeburg), 2007 „The Robbers“ (in collaboration with "United Intimacy", Riga). He performed as an actor in all projects of "Theaterhaus Weimar" since 2000, latest in "Abtrünnig" from 2007. Short films and experimental video works o.a. for the festival „Cops & Robbers“ in the "Schiller-Year" 2005. In 2008, he received a scholarship from the "Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt", and in 2009 a scholarship from the "Kulturstiftung Thüringen".
