Dunja Funke studied Media Art and Design at the Bauhaus-University in Weimar. For her final project she designed an audio-visual walking intervention in the public space of the memorial place Buchenwald (The Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorial Foundation (Ed.), „mahnmal hören“, Weimar 2002). During her studies she worked as a freelance editor for the german broadcast station MDR and was a co-founder of the nonprofit radio station "Radio Lotte".
She was head of the festival organisation department of the Kunstfest Weimar and later project manager and dramatic adviser at the Deutsches Nationaltheater (German National Theatre) in Weimar. From 2004 till 2006 she was co-organizing the radio play festival „…die Welt noch voller Ohren". Since 2007 Dunja Funke lives in Berlin and works as a freelance dramatic adviser and talk host in Berlin, Warszawa, Weimar among others. In 2008 she curated "X Wohnungen" for the berlin based theatre "Hebbel am Ufer".
