Weimar bauhaus lab

The Weimar bauhaus lab will establish a series of experimental laboratories on the following subject matters:
the individual & the collective, art & labour, utopia, design & fiction, the human & the machine, colour and space.
We want to review the impact of the Bauhaus school on the present affairs and thereby want to highlight less known and less-popular aspects of it. Our focus is to show the influences of the Bauhaus ideas imported into Turkey, which brings into term the dimension of what could be called 'the other modern' and approaching it from a more inter-cultural perspective. In process-oriented lab situations, we want to examine the educational impacts, local affairs and rather unknown inter-cultural, civil and social follow-ups of the Bauhaus school.

Together with its international partners, the e-werk weimar e.V. will present artists, workshops, performances, installative sites and exhibitions at two locations in Weimar: 'Strassenbahndepot' and in the 'Zeughof'. In the 1920's, the 'Zeughof' (then known as "Künstlerheim" / "Artists' House")  was a local meeting point in Weimar for the painters from the "Weimar school", who were very active in the . The 'Zeughof' will serve as projection surface for fictional narratives and artistic statements questioning the conditions of how local history is written. Referring to particular non-scientific practises like gossiping and improvisation. By presenting together the outcomes of the labs in Weimar, the various strands of activity shall flow into an overall project frame to exchange and "jam" on an interdisciplinary level among the project participants and to gain a common trans-european perspective.
